## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED. WHILE ON THE RUNWAY, A RESTART WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT SUCCESS. AFTER PUMPING THE THROTTLE A FEW TIMES (2 OR 5 TIMES) THE ENGINE TRIED TO START BUT BACK FIRED CAUSING A FIRE TO INITIATE WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CREW EVACUATED THE AIRCRAFT AND THE GROUND CREW EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. FURTHER INVESTIGATION WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT DID NOT REVEAL THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE, WHICH LEADS TO POSSIBLE IMPROPER ENGINE STARTING PROCEDURES. THERE WAS NO SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE NOTED ON THE AIRCRAFT'S FIREWALL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
