## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2006 AT 1115 EASTERN DST, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED ATTEMPTED TO TAKE-OFF N64382 (CE-180-K) ON RUNWAY 32 AT LAKE NORMAN AIRPARK (K14A). WHILE OCCUPYING THE LEFT SEAT, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ APPLIED POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT IN A CROSSWIND CONDITION AND LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT RUNNING OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY 32 INTO THE GRASS AND GROUND LOOPED THE AIRCRAFT CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE PROP, RIGHT WING TIP, RIGHT AILERON, AND THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS OCCUPYING THE RIGHT SEAT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ ADMITTED HE WAS OPERATING THE AIRCRAFT AS PIC AND SIMPLY LOST CONTROL AND GROUND LOOPED. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ DOES NOT HAVE A TAIL WHEEL ENDORSEMENT WHICH IS REQUIRED BY FAR 61.31 (I) NOR PRIOR TAIL WHEEL EXPERIENCE PRIOR TO APRIL 15, 1991. HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT THE REQUIREMENT OF A TAILWHEEL ENDORSEMENT. NEITHER PERSON WAS INJURED BUT AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL06CA132](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL06CA132), Sep 28, 2006: Cessna 180K (N64382), Mooresville, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the takeoff roll which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
