## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ WAS PILOT IN COMMAND FLYING N873MP, A CESSNA 182 IN PUBLIC USE FOR THE MISSOURI HIGHWAY PATROL. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY ^ LANDED THE AIRPLANE AFTER EXECUTING AN INSTRUMENT APPROACH TO DEXTER, MO AIRPORT (DXE) ON RUNWAY 36. UPON POST FLIGHT INSPECTION THE PILOT ^PRIVACY ^ NOTICED DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT HAND ELEVATOR OUTBOARD TIP AND MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE AIRPLANE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY INSPECTED BY MID-CONTINENT, A CESSNA DEALERSHIP, WHICH DETERMINED THAT DAMAGE TO BOTH THE ELEVATOR AND LANDING GEAR COULD BE ATTRIBUTED TO MULTIPLE HARD LANDINGS OVER TIME AND NOT TO ONE EVENT. ADDITIONALLY THE PILOT ^PRIVACY ^ HAS STATED HE AND OTHER PILOTS GENERALLY FLY APPROACHES AT APPROXIMATELY 110-120 KNOTS AND IS COMMON PRACTICE IN AIRCRAFT USED BY THE MHP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI07TA015](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI07TA015), Oct 17, 2006: Cessna 182R (N873MP), Dexter, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper runway selection for landing and the pilot's inadequate flare. A factor was the tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
