## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE CONDUCTING A VISUAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 24 AT THE ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA AIRPORT (SGJ), FOLLOWING AN IFR FLIGHT, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET SHORT OR PRIOR TO THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD. ONE OF THE MAIN LANDING GEARS CAUGHT THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD CAUSING THE LEFT AND RIGHT MAIN GEAR TO COLLAPSE. THE NOSE GEAR REMAINED EXTENDED AND LOCKED IN THE DOWN POSITION. THIS IMPACT CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AND DEPART THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET FROM THE FIRST POINT OF IMPACT, IN THE GRASS, BETWEEN RUNWAYS 13 AND 24. THE AIRCRAFT LEFT WING WAS TORN LOOSE FROM THE AIRCRAFT ALONG WITH MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE MAIN SPAR AND MULTIPLE WING RIBS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA07CA010](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA07CA010), Oct 22, 2006: Beech A36 (N200MW), St. Augustine, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's misjudged distance/altitude during landing, which resulted in an undershoot and on ground collision with a dirt bank.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
