## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) TIRES IN POSITIONS 1 AND 2 BLEW OUT THE SIDEWALLS AFTER AIRCRAFT N14947 TURNED OFF THE RUNWAY ON THE HIGH SPEED TAXIWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS STOPPED AND MAINTENANCE WAS DISPATCHED TO REPLACE THE FAILED TIRES. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT 2 OF THE 3 THERMAL FUSE PLUGS IN EACH TIRE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY WERE LEAKING AIR BUT NOT BLOWN COMPLETELY. THIS CONDITION COULD HAVE CAUSED AN UNDERINFLATED TIRE CONDITION TO EXIST WHICH WOULD BE A CAUSAL FACTOR IN THE TIRE SIDEWALL FAILURE. THE UNDAMAGED TIRES IN POSITION 3 AND 4 WERE CHECKED AT THE GATE WITH AN ACCUFLATE M290 TIRE SERVICING UNIT WITHIN AN HOUR AND A HALF TIME PERIOD IN A SLIGHTLY HEATED CONDITION. THE RESULTS WERE INCONCLUSIVE AS TO WHETHER THE TIRE SERVICING COULD BE ATTRIBUTED TO BE A CAUSAL FACTOR. POSITION 3 WAS 2 PSI OVERINFLATED AND #4 TIRE WAS 9% LOW PER THE ACCUFLATE M290 TIRE SERVICING UNIT. ADDITIONAL ATOS INSPECTIONS ARE BEING ACCOMPLISHED BY ISSUING CONDORS TO ENSURE THAT THE CARRIER'S MAINTENANCE PROGRAM ON SERVICING TIRES IS ADEQUATE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
