## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT ON FIRST SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT ATTEMPTED TO LAND WITH A 90 DEGREE CROSSWIND FROM THE LEFT. THE STUDENT PILOT MISAPPLIED THE CONTROLS AFTER TOUCHDOWN RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT RUNNING OFF THE RUNWAY INTO THE DIRT. THE AIRCRAFT HAD SLOWED TO APPROXIMATELY 30 KNOTS WHEN THE NOSE WHEEL CAUGHT IN SOFT DIRT. THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER ON ITS BACK. THE STUDENT PILOT STATED HE DID NOT REMEMBER WHAT THE AWOS SAID THE WINDS WERE NOR DID HE CONFIRM WIND DIRECTION WITH EITHER OF THE 2 WINDSOCKS AT THE AIRFIELD. WITNESSES ESTIMATED THE WINDS TO BE AT 15-18 KNOTS.
