## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) HOMEBUILT AIRCRAFT DEPARTED ITS HOME BASE OF DEER VALLEY AIRPORT FOR A LOCAL PLEASURE FLIGHT. A WITNESS REPORTED OBSERVING THE AIRCRAFT FLYING UP AND DOWN ARCS SIMILAR TO ZERO "G" MANEUVERS, FOLLOWED BY A STEEP TURN TO FLY NORTH UP THE VERDE RIVER AT AN ALTITUDE OF 200 FEET. WHILE FLYING NORTH UP THE RIVER THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK HIGH VOLTAGE POWER TRANSMISSION LINES AND BURST INTO FLAME. BLACK BURN MARKS WERE LEFT ON THE POWER LINES AND PART OF THE AIRCRAFT THAT REMAINED ABOVE WATER. THE COLLISION DESTROYED THE AIRCRAFT AND KILLED THE PILOT AND PASSENGER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX07LA025](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX07LA025), Nov 2, 2006: Olson Vans RV-6 (N606RV), Rio Verde, AZ, substantial damage, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from power lines while intentionally flying at a low altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
