## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A CESSNA CE-180, N4141J, DEPARTED A PRIVATE AIRSTRIP 7.5 MILES WEST OF WASILLA ALASKA, OPERATED BY THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ (COMMERCIAL PILOT) WITH FAMILY DOG. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DAT^ REPORTED THAT HE WAS GOING DOWN 1 MILE WEST OF THE CORDOVA MUNI. AIRPORT. THE CRASH SITE WAS LOCATED ONE MILE WEST OF THE AIRPORT ON HOKINS ISLAND, IN A GRASSY AREA AT 225 FEET ELEVATION. THE DOG SURVIVED WITH NO NOTICEABLE INJURIES, AND WAS LOCATED NEAR THE AIRCRAFT. IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING FLOWN TO CORDOVA FOR ENGINE WORK. THE PILOT'S ^PRIVACY DATA ^ SON STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION, AND THEY HAD PLANNED TO OVERHAUL THE REMAINING TWO CYLINDERS. BOTH FUEL TANKS WERE CHECKED WITH NO FUEL OBSERVED, A SMALL AMOUNT OF FUEL WAS DRAINED FROM BOTH TANKS, WHICH WAS DETERMINED TO BE AVGAS. (THERE WAS NO ODOR OF FUEL AT THE CRASH SITE TO INDICATE THAT FUEL HAD DRAINED FROM THE TANKS).

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
