## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N328UA (UAL FLIGHT #672) WAS GIVEN TAXI DIRECTIONS TO RUNWAY 32L, BY CHICAGO ATC, FOR DEPARTURE VIA BRAVO SOUTH RAMP LINE, A, A6, J, J1, T TO T10 INTERSECTION. DURING THE TURN FROM "JULIET" TO "JULIET 1" N328UA STOPPED AND SET THE PARKING BRAKE SHORT OF TANGO TAXIWAY BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC STOPPED IN FRONT OF THEM. WHILE STOPPED WITH THE PARKING BRAKES SET THE CREW EXPERIENCED A NOTICEABLE SHUTTER AND BANGING IN THE TAIL SECTION. THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS IN THE AIRCRAFT CABIN NOTIFIED THE PIC THAT THEY HAD ALSO FELT AND HEARD THE BANGING AND VIBRATIONS FROM THE TAIL SECTION. THE COCKPIT CREW CONTACTED ATC AND VERIFIED THAT A UAL A-320 HAD TAXIED BEHIND THEM ON JULIET TAXIWAY. THE CREWS OF BOTH AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO THEIR GATES. INSPECTIONS BY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL VERIFIED A GROUND COLLISION BETWEEN THE TWO AIRCRAFT. N328UA SUSTAINED IMPACT DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE RIGHT ELEVATOR AND STABILIZER THAT RAN FROM THE TRAILING EDGE OF THE ELEVATOR TO THE LEADING EDGE OF THE STABILIZER. THE NTSB RECLASSIFIED THE INCIDENT AS AN ACCIDENT AFTER REVIEWING THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE TO N328UA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
