## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) HONEYWELL'S FACTORY TRAINED MECHANIC PERFORMED THE ACCIDENT SITE EVALUATION OF THE AIRPLANE PRIOR TO MOVING IT TO MISSOURI. CD AVIATION SERVICES IN MISSOURI PERFORMED THE ENGINE RUN AT THEIR TEST CELL (HONEYWELL'S ENGINE OVER HAUL DEALER). THE CONTINUITY CHECK OF THE ENGINE AT THE ACCIDENT SITE DID NOT REVEAL ANY ABNORMALITIES THAT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED NORMAL OPERATION AND PRODUCTION OF RATED HORSEPOWER. THE AIRFRAME FUEL FILTER AND THE FUEL LINE FROM THE AIRFRAME FUEL FILTER TO THE ENGINE FUEL PUMP HAD NO EVIDENCE OF FUEL. THE INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT'S FUEL TANKS AT THE ACCIDENT SITE REVEALED LITTLE RESIDUAL FUEL IN THE TANKS, AND NO EVIDENCE OF FUEL SPILLAGE COULD BE DETERMINED AT THE CRASH SITE BY SMELL OR VISUAL INSPECTION. THE TEST CELL REPORT REVEALED THAT THE ENGINE, S/N P-91167, REMOVED FROM AIRPLANE N962QC WAS RAN ON 11-20-06, AND STARTED IN 22 SECONDS ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. ALL GROUND IDLE OPERATIONS PERFORMED WERE NORMAL. THE ENGINE WAS STARTED AND RAN IN THE TEST CELL FOUR TIMES FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES WITH NO DISCREPANCIES OTHER THAN PROP STRIKE RELATED ISSUES. THE PRELIMINARY EVALUATION REVEALED THAT THE ENGINE FLAMED OUT OR FUEL STARVATION TO THE ENGINE WAS NOT THE CAUSE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: The pilot's improper fuel management resulting in a total loss of engine power in cruise flight due to fuel exhaustion, subsequent forced landing to non suitable terrain, and an on-ground collision…
