## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING AN APPROACH TO NOGALES AIRPORT AZ. THE PILOT REPORTED A STRAIGHT IN TO RUNWAY 3. THE AIRPORT UNICOM HAD TOLD THE PILOT THAT THE APPROACH WAS FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE IS DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. THIS PUT HIM IN A POSITION OF LANDING UPHILL AND DOWNWIND. NO INDICATION WAS MADE BY THE PILOT AS TO THE NATURE OF THE EMERGENCY. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD ENOUGH TO FRACTURE BOTH LANDING GEAR UPLOCKS. THE LANDING GEAR ROTATED BACKWARDS AND THE AIRCRAFT SLID ON ITS BELLY UNTIL IT STOPPED ON THE RUNWAY. WITNESSES AT THE RUNWAY REPORTED SEEING BOTH ENGINES STOPPED AND IN FEATHER ON THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS HOISTED AND THE LANDING GEAR SWUNG DOWN, AND THE PILOT THEN STARTED THE ENGINES AND TAXIED TO THE RAMP. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE LANDING GEAR INDICATED THREE GREEN BEFORE TOUCH DOWN AND ADMITTED TO LANDING HARD. AT THE END THE PILOT MOVED THE AIRCRAFT HIMSELF AND IT WAS REPORTED THAT HE NEEDED TO FUEL THE AIRCRAFT TO START IT AND TAXI OFF THE RUNWAY. (-23 AMENDMENT) PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY DUE TO FUEL STARVATION AND LANDED RUNWAY 3 AT OLS ON 11/15/06. A HARD LANDING CAUSED FRACTURES TO BOTH LANDING GEAR-UP LOCKS. THE GEAR ROTATED BACKWARDS AND THE AIRCRAFT SLID ON ITS BELLY UNTIL COMING TO REST. DOWNGRADED FROM ACCIDENT (LAX06CA041).

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
