## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE LC41 PILOT WAS ON THE LANDING ROLLOUT TO RUNWAY 30 AT THE SOMERSET AIRPORT (SMQ) WHEN HE OBSERVED A SMALL TRACTOR TOWING A PIPER SARATOGA ACROSS THE RUNWAY FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE PILOT STATED HE DID NOT SEE THE SARATOGA UNTIL THE NOSE WHEEL ON HIS LC41 TOUCHED DOWN. THE PILOT IN COMMAND OF THE LC41 STATED HE WAS IN THE RIGHT SEAT DEMONSTRATING THE AIRCRAFT TO A PROSPECTIVE BUYER WHO WAS ALSO AT THE CONTROLS. THE PIC OF THE LC41 STATED BOTH HE AND THE PROSPECTIVE BUYER, A STUDENT PILOT, WERE ON THE BRAKES SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE LC41 VEERED LEFT AND STRUCK THE TAIL SECTION OF THE SARATOGA IN TOW CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE SARATOGA'S TAIL SECTION AND EMPENNAGE. THE LC41 (THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT) SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER AND RECEIVED A GOUGE ON TOP OF THE RIGHT WING CAUSING DELAMINATION OF THE WING SURFACE IN AN AREA APPROXIMATELY 2 1/2 (TWO AND ONE HALF) INCHES IN DIAMETER APPROXIMATELY 12 INCHES IN FROM THE LEADING EDGE AND APPROXIMATELY 5 (FIVE) FEET FROM THE WING ROOT. A STALL STRIP WAS ALSO TORN FROM THE RIGHT WING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC07LA032](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC07LA032), Nov 17, 2006: Columbia LC41-550FG (N1442E), Somerville, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The tug driver's inadequate lookout for landing traffic before crossing the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
