## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N7029B, AN AMATEUR BUILD KIT AIRCRAFT, WHILE LANDING AT YERINGTON, NV (O43) IN STRONG WINDS, CRASHED ON THE RAMP. PILOT STATED HE INTENDED TO FLY OVER TO A TIE DOWN ON THE RAMP, SET THE AIRCRAFT DOWN AND THEN SECURE IT TO A TIE-DOWN. HE ADDED THAT THE STALL SPEED OF THIS AIRCRAFT WAS 28 KNOTS. HE SAID THAT AS HE WAS FLYING TOWARD THE TIE DOWN A GUST CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO TOUCHDOWN, RESULTING IN THE LEFT MAIN TIRE DEFLATING. RAMP MARKINGS INDICATE THE AIRCRAFT THEN TWISTED APPROXIMATELY 90 DEGREES TO THE LEFT INTO A RIGHT CROSSWIND. THIS BENT THE NOSE GEAR SUCH THAT THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE RAMP SURFACE. THE LEFT WING TIP ALSO CONTACTED THE SURFACE BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FIRE WALL OCCURRED AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR AND DESTRUCTION OF THE PROPELLER. THE SINGLE OCCUPANT WAS UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX07CA042](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX07CA042), Nov 21, 2006: Pippert Zenith CH-701 (N7092B), Yerington, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate compensation for the wind conditions and failure to maintain both directional and pitch control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
