## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE WHILE THE AIRCRAFT WAS TAXIING ON THE RAMP FOR THE PURPOSE OF PARKING. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS FOLLOWING A VEHICLE WHICH WAS LEADING HIM TO PARKING. IN THE RAMP AREA THE VEHICLE TURNED, INSTRUCTING THE AIRCRAFT TO FOLLOW, WHILE DOING THIS THE PILOT WAS NOT AWARE OF HIS PROXIMITY TO A PARKED CONSTRUCTION VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED HIM TO STRIKE THE PARKED CONSTRUCTION VEHICLE WITH HIS LEFT WING TIP. DAMAGE TO THE WING TIP PLASTIC FAIRING WAS MINOR CAUSING A CRACK IN THE PLASTIC FAIRING. FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT BY AIRWORTHINESS PERSONNEL REVEALED BUCKLING AND RIPPLING IN THE AREA OF THE LEFT FUEL TANK, ALSO THE LEFT REAR PLEXI GLASS WINDOW WAS CRACKED AND BROKEN FROM THE TOP OF THE FRAME TO THE BOTTOM. THE LEFT FLAP WAS OUT OF RIG AND PARTIALLY EXTENDED WHILE IN THE FULLY RETRACTED POSITION. INTERNAL INSPECTION OF THE DAMAGE BY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL REVEALED THAT THE LEFT REAR INBOARD SPAR CHANNEL OF THE LEFT WING WAS BENT AS A RESULT OF THE AIRCRAFT'S WING CONTACTING THE CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT. INSPECTOR'S STATEMENT: THE CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT WAS PARKED IN A POSITION ON THE RAMP THAT CREATED A POTENTIAL HAZARD; HOWEVER THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PILOT IN COMMAND TO MANEUVER HIS AIRCRAFT ON THE SURFACE SO AS TO SEE AND AVOID OBJECTS REMAINS A PRIORITY.
