## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE OPERATING AT FL220 DURING A FLIGHT FROM BOZEMAN, MT TO BOISE, ID, THE PILOT HEARD A "CRACKING" SOUND, THEN ABOUT ONE SECOND LATER, HE HEARD AN EXPLOSIVE SOUND AND THE LEFT SIDE WINDOW DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT. THE OAT WAS -35 DEGREES C. THE PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY DESCENT AND LANDED AT THE CHALLIS, ID AIRPORT WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED ON THE SIDE WINDOWS HAD BEEN COMPLIED WITH. HE HAD THE CABIN PRESSURE CHECKED TO 5.0 PSI DEFERENTIAL AFTER THE SERVICE BULLETIN WAS COMPLIED WITH. HE SAID THE CABIN DEFERENTIAL DURING THIS FLIGHT WAS APPROXIMATELY 3.5 PSI. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DAT^ NOTIFIED THE LANCAIR FACTORY AND IS AWAITING A DETERMINATION OF THE CAUSE OF THE WINDOW FAILURE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
