## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED HE WAS ON TAKEOFF ROLL, JUST AT ROTATION SPEED, THE NOSE SUDDENLY VEERED LEFT AND THE NOSE BEGAN TO "SINK." RIGHT RUDDER WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO CORRECT THE LEFT YAW SO THE PILOT ELECTED TO ABORT THE TAKEOFF SINCE HE WAS BELOW VMC SPEED. THE PILOT MOVED BOTH THROTTLES TO IDLE. AS THE AIRCRAFT NOSE WHEEL BEGAN TO CARRY MORE WEIGHT THE NOSE STRUT COLLAPSED CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO COME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. BOTH ENGINES WERE TORN FROM THEIR MOUNTS AFTER THE PROPELLERS CONTACTED THE GROUND. THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY PERSON ON BOARD AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07CA032](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07CA032), Dec 1, 2006: Riley D-16A (N119N), Point Roberts, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pre-existing crack in the nose wheel fork, which allowed separation of the nose wheel during the takeoff roll, resulting in collapse of the nose landing gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
