## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON DECEMBER 04, 2006, AT ABOUT 1730 LOCAL TIME, IN A STATEMENT FROM THE PILOT OF N8927K, A STINSON-108-1 WAS LANDING AT SALINAS AIRPORT (SNS). WHILE ON APPROACH THERE WAS A CROSSWIND FROM THE RIGHT THAT HAD TO BE CORRECTED FOR. THE PILOT STARTED TO FLARE AND COULD NOT LONGER SEE THE RUNWAY LIGHTS OVER THE NOSE. AT THIS TIME HE ADDED POWER TO SLOW THE DESCENT. WHEN THE GROUND CAME INTO SIGHT, HE REALIZED HE HAD DRIFTED RIGHT AND HAD NO TIME TO CORRECT BEFORE HITTING THE RUNWAY SIGN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
