## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON DECEMBER 17, 2006, N2896V, A BEECHCRAFT MODEL BE-35 AIRPLANE, SERIAL NUMBER D-304 INITIATED A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING AT THE LORDSBURG AIRPORT (LSB) AT LORDSBURG, NEW MEXICO. THE CAUSE FOR THE PRECAUTIONARY LANDING WAS DUE TO THE CABIN DOOR BECOMING UNLATCHED. THE PILOT (SOLE OCCUPANT) FLEW OVER LSB TO MAKE A LEFT DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 30, AND AFTER TURNING FINAL, BROKE OFF THE APPROACH. WHEN THE PILOT RETRACTED THE LANDING GEAR, THE NOSE DID NOT RETRACT. THE PILOT AGAIN ENTERED INTO A LANDING PATTERN AND MADE ANOTHER APPROACH AND LANDED. AT APPROXIMATELY 1143 LOCAL, N2896V TOUCHED DOWN AND THE NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. WINDS WERE REPORTED TO BE AT 10 TO 12 KNOTS FROM THE SOUTHWEST.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
