## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) IMMEDIATELY AFTER SOUTHERN AIR FLIGHT SO0966 DEPARTED ANCHORAGE, ALASKA THE CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY DUE TO A PRESSURIZATION PROBLEM, DUMPED FUEL, AND RETURNED TO ANCHORAGE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT THE COUNTER WEIGHT ON THE DE-ICE TRUCK BOOM PUNCHED A HOLE IN THE FUSELAGE ON THE RIGHT SIDE IN THE VICINITY OF THE LOWER CARGO DOOR. THE NTSB UPGRADED THIS TO AN ACCIDENT ON 12-27-2006. AMENDMENT TO FOLLOW AS NEW INFORMATION IS COLLECTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC07LA008](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC07LA008), Dec 24, 2006: Boeing 747-228F (N752SA), Anchorage, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the deicing truck crew to maintain sufficient distance from the parked airplane during deicing, which resulted in a collision and substantial damage to the airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
