## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N93TT DEPARTED HILLSBORO AIRPORT (KHIO) FLIGHT TO NEWBERG (K17S). 7 MINUTES LATER PILOT RADIOED HILLSBORO TOWER AND REPORTED ENGINE CUTTING OUT AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO RETURN TO KHIO. NEXT N93TT PILOT RADIO TRANSMISSION INDICATED THAT ENGINE HAD QUIT AND HE WOULD ATTEMPT TO LAND AT TWIN OAKS AIR PARK (K7S3). LAST RADIO TRANSMISSION, MIC WAS OPEN FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN COULD HEAR PILOT SAY "OH***" THEN SILENCE. A HELICOPTER IN THE AREA ATTEMPTED TO FIND THE AIRCRAFT BUT REPORTED TO HILLSBORO TOWER THAT THE AREA WAS "SOCKED IN" AND COULD NOT FIND DOWNED AIRCRAFT. A WASHINGTON COUNTY POLICE OFFICER REPORTED HEAVY FOG THROUGHOUT THE AREA WHILE HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE THE DOWNED AIRCRAFT. SHORT TIME LATER A HELICOPTER LOCATED 93TT UPSIDE DOWN IN A FIELD 1 MILE WEST OF TWIN OAKS AIR PARK. (WEATHER REPORT ON FAA FORM 8020-9 KHIO METAR 301845Z 0000KT 10SM CLR 03/01 A3041). STATEMENT FROM DAIRY FARMER WAS THAT FOG WAS THICK AND ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND. FOG LIFTED SHORTLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND THE AREA COULD BE SEEN FROM HIS HOUSE.
