## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OM^ STATED THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER AND MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A SMALL FIELD NEAR LAKE BUTLER, FLORIDA. THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE VERY TOP OF A TREE AND DESCENDED AT AN ANGLE OF APPROXIMATELY 50 DEGREES TO THE SURFACE. DURING TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT'S WHEELS DUG INTO THE DIRT APPROXIMATELY 12 TO 18 INCHES AND WAS BROKEN OFF. THE ENGINE MADE A HOLE APPROXIMATELY 3 FEET WIDE AND 18 INCHES DEEP. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE TO THE FLIGHT PATH AND APPROXIMATELY 45 FEET FROM THE INITIAL IMPACT POINT. THE RIGHT WING WAS BROKEN OFF AND THE LEFT WING WAS ATTACHED BUT BROKEN ALSO. THE FUSELAGE WAS BUCKLED FROM THE BACK END TO THE FRONT END. THE ENGINE WAS STILL ATTACHED, BUT BENT DOWNWARD ON THE MOUNTS. THE WOODEN PROPELLER WAS BROKEN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA07CA033](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA07CA033), Jan 6, 2007: Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR (N56434), Lake Butler, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: a partial loss of engine power due to a disconnected throttle control push-rod, which resulted in a forced landing and collision with trees and the ground.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
