## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT MADE AN APPROACH INTO CRAIG-MOFFAT AIRPORT AFTER A SNOW BERM MOVED THROUGH THE AREA. THE AIRPORT HAD NOT BEEN PLOWED SINCE THE SNOW FALL, THE ENTIRE LANDSCAPE WAS WHITE WITH NO CONTRAST. UPON VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY ENVIRONMENT HE DETERMINED THE RUNWAY WAS LOCATED BETWEEN EXISTING SNOW BERMS WHICH WERE APPROXIMATELY 40 YARDS APART. THESE ARE LOCATED SOUTH OF RUNWAY 07, AND NORTH OF THE TAXIWAY. HE ASSUMED THE RUNWAY WAS LOCATED THERE, AND LANDED BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY SUSTAINING DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR AND LOWER FUSELAGE AREA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN07CA057](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN07CA057), Jan 21, 2007: Smith, Ted Aerostar 601P (N88JE), Craig, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper in-flight planning and unsuitable area selected for landing. A contributing factor was the snow covered terrain and runway.

## Other reports on N88JE (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20130929018919I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20130929018919I), Sep 29, 2013: Aerostar 601P (N88JE), Delta, CO, Minor damage. Pilot forgot to put the gear down upon returning from grand junction were he demoed the aircraft for the sale of the aircraft.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
