## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT TRANSMITTED A "MAYDAY" CALL REPORTING A SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE; AIRCRAFT WAS AT 3,400 FEET MSL, NINE (9) MILES WEST OF BALDWIN COUNTY AIRPORT (MLJ). THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED 30-50 FOOT TREES APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND AT THE EASTERN EDGE OF A FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED BY IMPACT WITH THE TREES AND BY THE ENSUING FIRE. NTSB ENGINE TEAR DOWN ANALYSIS INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING UPON IMPACT WITH THE TREES; THE PILOT WAS DEALING WITH AN OFF-AIRFIELD EMERGENCY LANDING EVENT. THE PILOT REPORTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING AREA IN SIGHT BUT EVIDENCE SUPPORTS THAT HE MISJUDGED THE CHOSEN EMERGENCY LANDING AREA AND OVERSHOT THE FIELD IMPACTING TREES ON THE FAR SIDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL07FA036](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL07FA036), Jan 29, 2007: Cessna T210M (N761RS), Haddock, GA, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: Loss of engine power for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
