## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT LOWERED GEAR IN PREPARATION FOR LANDING, AND DID NOT GET A SUCCESSFUL GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATION. HE CYCLED THE GEAR SEVERAL TIMES AND ONLY RECEIVED A NOSE GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATION. PILOT PERFORMED EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENSION AND RECEIVED A NOSE GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATION. THE PILOT THEN PERFORMED A FLY BY IN ORDER FOR GROUND PERSONNEL TO VISUALLY CHECK GEAR POSITION. GROUND PERSONNEL REPORTED TO THE PILOT THAT THE GEAR APPEARED TO BE DOWN AND LOCKED. UPON LANDING THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED AND AIRCRAFT SETTLED ON THE RIGHT WING TIP AND SPUN AROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI07LA064](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI07LA064), Feb 1, 2007: Cessna 414A (N6631C), Dickinson, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: The undetermined failure of the emergency landing gear system and the retraction of the right main landing gear during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
