## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING CRUISE FLIGHT AT FL270, THE PILOT'S (L/S) WINDSHIELD (INNER PANEL) SHATTERED. THE WINDSHIELD DID NOT SEPARATE FROM THE FRAME OF THE AIRCRAFT. WITHOUT CONSULTING/FOLLOWING THE AIRCRAFT FLIGHT MANUAL (AFM) PROCEDURE, THE PILOT ELECTED TO RAPIDLY (DUMP) DEPRESSURIZE THE AIRCRAFT. AFTER THE AIRCRAFT WAS DEPRESSURIZED, THE PILOTS ATTEMPTED TO DON THEIR OXYGEN MASKS. BECAUSE THE OXYGEN SYSTEM WAS NOT ARMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AFM, THE PILOTS HAD TROUBLE GETTING OXYGEN TO THEIR MASKS AND SUBSEQUENTLY, IT APPEARS, BECAME HYPOXIC AND LOST USEFUL CONSCIOUSNESS. UPON REGAINING CONSCIOUSNESS AT A LOWER ALTITUDE, THE PIC RECOVERED THE AIRCRAFT WHICH WAS IN AN UNCONTROLLED DESCENT. UPON REGAINING CONTROL, THE PIC LANDED THE AIRCRAFT AT KCGI WHERE THE DAMAGE AND SEPARATION OF PARTS OF THE AIRCRAFT WERE NOTICED.
