## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DAT^ STATES HE WAS FLYING FROM TOGIAK TO DILLINGHAM, ALASKA. HE DID NOT CHECK WEATHER. THE CEILING WAS LOW ALTHOUGH THE VISIBILITY AT THE ALTITUDE HE WAS FLYING (600 FEET) WAS GOOD. AS HE APPROACHED A PASS WEST OF MANOKOTAK HE KNEW HE HAD TO CLIMB TO 700 FEET TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE PASS. WHEN HE CLIMBED HE FLEW INTO THE CLOUDS AND COULDN'T SEE AHEAD. NEXT THING HE SAW WAS A BUSH ON THE SIDE OF THE HILL. HIS AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE HILL, FLIPPED OVER WHEN THE NOSEWHEEL DUG INTO THE SNOW, CRESTED THE TOP OF THE HILL THEN SLID 1200 FEET DOWN THE BACKSLOPE OF THE HILL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)
