## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT IN FLIGHT COULD NOT MAKE RIGHT TURNS. CONTROL SIDE STICK WOULD NOT MOVE FROM NEUTRAL TO RIGHT. PILOT STATED THAT THE AILERONS WOULD NOT MOVE FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OFF. THE AILERONS WOULD NOT MOVE IN THE DIRECTION OF A RIGHT TURN, HOWEVER THEY WOULD WORK NORMALLY IN THE DIRECTION OF A LEFT TURN. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED FROM OUTSIDE OF THE COCKPIT AT THE WING CONTROL SURFACE JUST AFTER LANDING WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN THE T HANGAR. THE PILOT STATED THE NEXT MORNING WHEN HE WENT TO THE AIRCRAFT, HE COULD MOVE THE FLIGHT CONTROLS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. THE PILOT SAID HE WAS IN HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG CROSSWINDS DURING MOST OF THE FLIGHT FROM TEXAS. PILOT STATED THAT IT WAS NOT A RESTRICTED MOVEMENT BUT LIKE HITTING A HARD STOP. AT ONE POINT HE USED BOTH HANDS TO TRY AND FORCE THE CONTROLS TO MOVE AND HE COULD NOT MAKE THEM MOVE TO THE RIGHT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX07IA093](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX07IA093), Feb 14, 2007: Columbia LC41-550FG (N194LF), Banning, CA, incident, no damage. Probable cause: Jammed aileron flight control during cruise flight due to the presence of foreign object debris, which resulted from the manufacturer's improper processes.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
