## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT, WITH ONE (1) PASSENGER ON BOARD, DEPARTED MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA (MTV) FOR CHAPEL HILL, NORTH CAROLINA. AFTER DEPARTURE, AT APPROXIMATELY 300' AGL, THE CABIN DOOR OPENED. THE PILOT RETURNED TO MTV FOR LANDING, THINKING THAT THE GEAR HAD NOT BEEN RETRACTED. A NORMAL APPROACH TO LANDING WAS ACCOMPLISHED, HOWEVER, THE GEAR WAS NOT EXTENDED, AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED GEAR UP. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE WITH NO INJURIES TO THE PASSENGER OR PILOT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
