## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING OPERATION AT AN ALTITUDE OF APPROXIMATELY 9500' MSL, THE PILOT REPORTED THE ENGINE WENT TO A REDUCED POWER CONDITION. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT IN A FIELD; HOWEVER, DURING TAXI, THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR WHEEL WENT INTO A RUT AND THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND. A POST INCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE #4 CYLINDER ROCKER ARM SHAFT FAILED (BROKE) CAUSING AN ENGINE POWER REDUCTION AND SUBSEQUENT EMERGENCY LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT IS LOCATED 30 MILES NORTH OF ELKO, NEVADA NEAR THE HAYSTACK RANCH. THE PILOT SAID THE VOR FIX WAS 359 DEGREES FROM THE BQU VOR, 30 DME.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
