## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT, N7141A, A CESSNA 172, STRUCK A SNOW BANK WITH THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR DURING AN ABORTED TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 31. UPON IMPACT WITH THE SNOW BANK THE AIRCRAFT ROTATED APPROXIMATELY 90 DEGREES AND CAME TO REST ON THE MAIN GEAR. DURING THE ROTATION OF THE AIRCRAFT THE RIGHT WING CONTACTED THE GROUND AND SUSTAINED DAMAGE. THE RUNWAY CONDITIONS WERE SNOW AND ICE COVERED AND THE WINDS WERE REPORTED AS LIGHT. THE RUNWAY WIDTH WAS REDUCED TO APPROXIMATELY 18 FEET DUE TO THE RUNWAY EDGE SNOW BANKS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC07CA069](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC07CA069), Feb 25, 2007: Cessna 172 (N7141A), Utica, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control of the airplane, during an aborted takeoff, which resulted in a collision with a snowbank.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
