## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AN INSTRUCTOR PILOT AND HIS STUDENT WERE PRACTICING TOUCH AND GOS AT LA CROSSE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (LSE), ON ONE ATTEMPT TO LAND ON RUNWAY 21, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY FORTY FEET SHORT OF THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY. THE GROUND WAS COVERED WITH ABOUT EIGHTEEN INCHES OF SNOW. THE MAIN GEAR CONTACTED THE GROUND FIRST. AFTER THE INITIAL TOUCHDOWN THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED CAUSING THE PROPELLER AND SPINNER TO CONTACT THE GROUND. DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT THE LEFT WING IMPACTED THE GROUND CAUSING MAJOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING SPAR. THE AIRCRAFT SLID THROUGH THE SNOW FINALLY COMING TO REST ON THE RUNWAY. NEITHER OF THE OCCUPANTS WERE INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI07CA087](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI07CA087), Mar 9, 2007: Cessna 150 (N7272S), LaCrosse, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The dual student's failure to maintain the proper glidepath and clearance from terrain and the flight instructor's delayed remedial action. A factor was the flight instructor's fatigue.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
