## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 31, 2007, AT APPROXIMATELY 1600 PST, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMI^, PIC, RENTED AND ATTEMPTED TO START PIPER PA28, N6231H AT LONG BEACH FLYING CLUB, LONG BEACH, CA. HE EVENTUALLY ATTEMPTED TO USE THE FLOODED ENGINE PROCEDURE WITHOUT SUCCESS. HE THEN PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT BACK INTO ITS PARKING SPOT AND A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE FLYING CAME OUT AND WAS ABLE TO START THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ AND HIS PASSENGER THEN FLEW TO AND LANDED AT BOTH EL MONTE AIRPORT AND BRACKETT AIRPORT. UPON RETURN TO LONG BEACH AIRPORT THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ LANDED ON 25L AND EXITED THE RUNWAY AT F2 WHERE HE STOPPED THE AIRCRAFT. AT THIS POINT THE ENGINE QUIT. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ NOTIFIED THE LONG BEACH AIRPORT TOWER AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE ENGINE, THE LONG BEACH AIRPORT TOWER INFORMED THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ THAT THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE AIRCRAFT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT. THIS INCIDENT INVESTIGATION IS NOW CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
