## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) RATED PILOT HAD RECENTLY PURCHASED AIRCRAFT AND WAS ON VFR FLIGHT WITH PILOT RATED PASSENGER. WEATHER BRIEFING WAS THROUGH NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND WAS FOR VFR WITH LIGHT WINDS. AFTER THE FLIGHT HAD DEPARTED THE WEATHER FORECAST WAS CHANGED. ON ARRIVING AT DESTINATION, AN UNCONTROLLED FIELD WHICH THE PILOT STATED DID NOT HAVE AVAILABLE ASOS, THE PILOT ENCOUNTERED STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND LOST CONTROL OF THE TAILWHEEL AIRCRAFT AFTER TOUCHDOWN. WIND AT THE NEAREST REPORTING FACILITY AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT WAS FROM 210 DEGREES AT 19 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 30 KNOTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI07CA130](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI07CA130), Apr 3, 2007: Boeing E75N1 (N3840K), Fostoria, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for wind conditions and his subsequent failure to maintain directional control during landing. The crosswind and wind gusts were contributing factors.

## Other reports on N3840K (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 20080414835419A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20080414835419A), Apr 14, 2008: Boeing E75N1 (N3840K), Youngstown, OH, Destroyed. (-23) Aircraft impacted ground at high angle low airspeed. Aircraft damage, witness and pilot statements consistent with aircraft stalling in traffic pattern.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
