## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT'S ENGINE ABRUPTLY QUIT IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN, ON THE DOWNWIND LEG, SLIGHTLY BEYOND THE 180. THE PILOT IMMEDIATELY TURNED TOWARDS THE RUNWAY, BUT WAS UNABLE TO CLEAR A TROUGH 20 YARDS SHORT OF THE THRESHOLD. THE TROUGH CAUGHT THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR, TEARING IT OFF. THE AIRCRAFT THEN FLIPPED INVERTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI07CA105](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI07CA105), Apr 15, 2007: Pavliga Hatz CB-1 (N899P), Buffalo, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to the carburetor fuel flow valve becoming stuck in the closed position, which resulted in fuel starvation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
