## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT WAS FLYING AT LOW ALTITUDE OVER HIGH TERRAIN CONDUCTING FLIGHT TRAINING MANEUVERS. UPON REALIZING THAT THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT OUT CLIMB THE TERRAIN RISING IN FRONT OF THE AIRCRAFT, THE INSTRUCTOR TOOK THE CONTROLS AND ATTEMPTED EVASIVE MANEUVERING TO AVOID IMPACT WITH THE GROUND. WHILE MANEUVERING, THE AIRCRAFT HIT A TREE WHICH DESTROYED THE AIRPLANE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07CA103](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07CA103), Apr 17, 2007: Cessna 152 (N49902), Oak Glen, CA, destroyed. Probable cause: The flight instructors failure to maintain clearance from trees while maneuvering. Contributing factors were the downdraft weather condition, and the tree.

## Other reports on N49902 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19780308014249I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19780308014249I), Mar 8, 1978: Cessna 152 (N49902), Boise, ID. Pilot took off on a wide taxiway, having mistaken it for a runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
