## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 18, 2007 AT APPROXIMATELY 13:10 HOURS (LOCAL), N868ST, A BEECH 55, PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DEPARTED RUNWAY 05 AT THE ADIRONDACK REGIONAL AIRPORT (SLK). THE AIRCRAFT CLIMBED AT A STEEP ANGLE, ROLLED LEFT, AND CRASHED IN A WOODED AREA NORTH OF THE RUNWAY. AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS ON FILE WITH THE BURLINGTON, VT FSS, INDICATING A DESTINATION OF FULTON, MO (FTT). WEATHER AT THE AIRPORT AT THE TIME OF DEPARTURE WAS VFR WITH LOW CEILINGS. THE PILOT WAS NOT CERTIFICATED TO FLY MULTI-ENGINE AIRCRAFT, NOR DID HE POSSESS A VALID MEDICAL CERTIFICATE. EXAMINATION OF THE AIRCRAFT WRECKAGE, ON SCENE, DID NOT REVEAL ANY OBVIOUS MECHANICAL ABNORMALITIES WITH THE AIRCRAFT OR ITS SYSTEMS. THE PATTERN OF THE WRECKAGE INDICATES A LOW FORWARD SPEED IMPACT WITH HIGH RATE OF DESCENT; CONSISTENT WITH A LOW ALTITUDE STALL SCENARIO AND ASSOCIATED FAILED RECOVERY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC07FA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC07FA096), Apr 18, 2007: Beech 95-B55 (N868ST), Saranac Lake, NY, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate airspeed during initial climb after takeoff, which resulted in an inadvertent stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
