## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 18, 2007, AT APPROXIMATELY 15:15 HOURS, THE PILOT DEPARTED WILEY POST AIRPORT (PWA) FOR A DESTINATION OF SHAWNEE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (SNL). AT APPROXIMATELY 4.5 MILES FROM SNL, THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. THE PILOT THEN PERFORMED AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON A ROUGH FIELD. ON LANDING, THE LEFT WING TIP CONTACTED A CEDAR BUSH RESULTING IN THE SHEARING OF THE WINGTIP. THE AIRCRAFT THEN TRAVELED FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 FEET WHEN THE LEFT WING STRUCK A TREE. THE IMPACT WITH THE TREE CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING. THE AIRCRAFT THEN TRAVELED FORWARD APPROXIMATELY 25 FEET WHILE ROTATING 90 DEGREES TO THE LEFT. THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT WING THEN STRUCK A LARGE CEDAR BUSH CAUSING CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AGAINST THE SECOND CEDAR BUSH. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED; THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS ONBOARD THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07CA105](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07CA105), Apr 18, 2007: Cessna 150E (N6251T), Shawnee, OK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate inflight decision by failing to refuel while en route, resulting in fuel exhaustion and the loss of power. A factor was the tree.
