(-23) UNLICENSED PILOT WAS FLYING ON AN EXPIRED STUDENT CERTIFICATE. THE 1900FT NORTH/SOUTH FIELD THAT HE WAS FLYING FROM HAS TREES AND POWERLINES ON BOTH ENDS. THE WINDS WERE 200 @ 15KTS GUST 25KTS. THE CROSSWIND COMPONENT WOULD HAVE BEEN 7KTS GUST 13KTS. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A FULL FLAP APPROACH @ 65MPH. THE AIRCRAFT WAS BLOWN INTO THE TREES SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI07CA111](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI07CA111), Apr 22, 2007: Cessna 150F (N8893S), Paw Paw, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's inadequate compensation for wind conditions while on final approach. Contributing factors to the accident were the gusting wind conditions and the trees.
