## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING PUSHBACK, THE TOWING SUPERVISOR STOPPED THE TOWING OPERATION DUE TO A LIGHT AIRCRAFT TAXIING BEHIND THE UNITED POSTAL SERVICE (UPS) AIRCRAFT. AS THE TOW VEHICLE DRIVER WAS STOPPING THE AIRCRAFT, THE TOW SUPERVISOR'S ATTENTION WAS DIVERTED TO THE AIRCRAFT TAXIING BEHIND THE UPS AIRCRAFT. AT THIS POINT, THE RIGHT NOSE LANDING GEAR TIRE ROLLED OVER THE TOW SUPERVISOR'S FOOT CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY. UPS HAS INITIATED A CHANGE TO THEIR GENERAL OPERATIONS MANUAL TO HAVE THE TOW SUPERVISOR RIDE IN THE TOW VEHICLE INSTEAD OF WALKING NEXT TO THE AIRCRAFT NEAR THE NOSE LANDING GEAR ASSEMBLY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX07LA189](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX07LA189), Apr 24, 2007: Boeing 757-24APF (N402UP), Burbank, CA, no damage. Probable cause: The tow tractor driver's and mechanic's diverted attention resulting in the airplane rolling over the mechanic's foot. Also causal was the mechanic's failure to maintain clearance from the nose…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
