## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO PHOTOGRAPH HIS TWO DAUGHTERS IN-FLIGHT IN A CLASSIC AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT DEPARTED IN N360DD AND HIS DAUGHTERS DEPARTED IN THE CLASSIC AIRCRAFT. SEVERAL PICTURES WERE TAKEN AND THE PILOT LANDED 4SD WITHOUT INCIDENT. PRIOR TO SHUTDOWN, ANOTHER PHOTO OPPORTUNITY OCCURRED AND THE PILOT AGAIN DEPARTED 4SD. SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTURE THE ENGINE STARVED FOR FUEL AND THE PILOT INITIATED AN EMERGENCY LANDING AT 4SD. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE GROUND APPROXIMATELY 200 YARDS SHORT AND LEFT OF RUNWAY 14. UPON LANDING, THE LEFT AILERON SPADE ENTANGLED IN THE SAGE BRUSH CAUSING THE AILERON TO SEPARATE FROM THE AFT SPAR OF THE LEFT WING, SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGING THAT STRUCTURE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX07CA141](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX07CA141), Apr 29, 2007: Bishop Thomas W BISHOP-ACRO (N360DD), Stead, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: Fuel exhaustion due to the pilot's inadequate pre-flight inspection and his failure to verify that an adequate fuel supply was on board the aircraft.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
