## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS CONDUCTING BANNER TOWING OPERATIONS FROM HANOVER MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (OFP) FOR THE NEXTEL CUP RACES AT RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY. AFTER LANDING ON RWY 34, IN A STRONG CROSSWIND, HE TURNED OFF THE RUNWAY EXPOSING THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT TO THE WIND. HE APPLIED FULL AFT CONTROL TO THE STICK CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER ITS NOSE ONTO ITS TOPSIDE. THE PILOT WAS NOT INVOLVED AND THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA07CA093](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA07CA093), May 6, 2007: Piper J5A (N33180), Richmond, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The improper positioning of the elevator flight control surface by the pilot-in-command while taxiing with a tailwind, resulting in the airplane nosing over.

## Other reports on N33180 (1)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong.
