## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A CIRRUS SR20 REGISTRATION N651BS, S/N 1711 LOST #1 NAV/COM ON A 2 MILE FINAL APPROACH TO REYNOLDS FIELD IN JACKSON MICHIGAN (JXN). THE PIC SWITCHED TO NAV/COM #2, SMELLED SMOKE THEN DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED ON RUNWAY 24 WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT WITH FAA INSPECTORS AND WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL, THE COMPONENT THAT FAILED APPEARED TO BE A "TVS SUPPRESSOR" LOCATED IN THE CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL. THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF SOLDER SPLATTER AND MINOR SMOKE DAMAGE TO A COSMETIC PANEL, BUT NO EVIDENCE OF AN ACTUAL FIRE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
