## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 30, 2007 AT 1200 ALASKA DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME, A DC-4 AIRPLANE OPERATED BY BROOKS AIR FUEL, FAIRBANKS, ALASKA SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DURING LANDING AT THE NIXON FORK MINE AIRPORT (PRIVATE AIRPORT). THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUCK THE END OF THE RUNWAY SEPARATING THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR AND THE RIGHT WING. THE RIGHT WING CAUGHT FIRE AND REMAINED ON THE RUNWAY, THE REST OF THE AIRCRAFT SLID OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE TWO MAN FLIGHT CREW WERE NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC07LA040](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC07LA040), May 30, 2007: Douglas DC-4 (N898AT), McGrath, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: An undershoot and collision with the runway when the pilot misjudged the distance/altitude during the landing flare/touchdown.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
