AFTER DEPARTING SPOKANE FELTS FIELD AIRPORT (SFF) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ LANDED ON RUNWAY 5 AT THE COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO AIRPORT (COE). DURING THIS LANDING HE LOST CONTROL OF THE CONVENTIONAL GEAR AIRPLANE, GROUND LOOPED AND DIVERTED OFF THE RUNWAY AND INTO THE GRASS. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT INCLUDED SCRAPES TO THE LEFT LOWER WING TIP AND LEFT AILERON. A POST ACCIDENT INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE AILERON SPAR WAS CRACKED AS A RESULT OF THE EVENT WHICH CLASSIFIES THIS AS AN ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07CA169](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07CA169), Jun 8, 2007: Boeing Stearman A75N1 (N450SS), Coeur d'Alene, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing. The crosswind condition was a contributing factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
