## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DEPARTED THE BLANDING, UT (KBDG) AIRPORT ON 06/10/07 AROUND 0830 TO FLY TO CLAY HILLS. WHEN HE ARRIVED AT CLAY HILLS AROUND 0900, HE APPROACHED THE LANDING AREA TOO HIGH, TOO FAST, AND WITH A SLIGHT TAILWIND. HE TOUCHED DOWN ON THE STRIP WITHOUT ENOUGH ROOM TO STOP BEFORE THE END CAUSING HIM TO RUN OFF THE LANDING AREA. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THERE WERE THREE PEOPLE ON BOARD WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA07CA168](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA07CA168), Jun 10, 2007: Cessna 172D (N2579U), Halls Crossing, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to select suitable terrain for landing. A contributing factor was the rough/uneven terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
