## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 06/18/07, AT APPROXIMATELY 1310 HOURS EST, AIRCRAFT REGISTRATION N67248, BEECH MODEL NUMBER BE-23-C23, UPON LANDING, DEPARTED RUNWAY NUMBER 02 TO THE RIGHT EMBANKMENT AT MIDFIELD FROM A LOSS OF CONTROL BY THE PILOT IN COMMAND. THE PIC DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY. THE WEATHER AT THE TIME OF THE LANDING WAS CLEAR WITH HIGH VISIBILITY. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD RECEIVED LOCAL WEATHER FROM ATIS AT HFD. THE WIND DIRECTION ACROSS THE RUNWAY WAS 040 @ 6 KNOTS. THE AIRCRAFT HAD SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE FROM IMPACT WITH THE RUNWAY EMBANKMENT TO INCLUDE BOTH MAIN WINGS, FLAPS, FORWARD NACELLE AND NOSE WHEEL MOUNT ATTACHMENT POINTS. THE LOWER FUSELAGE WAS STRUCTURALLY DAMAGED FROM THE FIREWALL TO THE EMPENNAGE SECTION SKINS TO INCLUDE ALL NAVIGATIONAL AND COMMUNICATION ANTENNAS. INITIAL CONTACT OF THE AIRCRAFT TO RUNWAY 02 WAS INDICATED BY A 6 FOOT SKID 9 FEET LEFT OF THE CENTERLINE WITH THE LEFT MAIN WHEEL CONTACTING WITH A FAINT TIRE SCUFF THAT EXTENDED WITH AN ARC LENGTH OF APPROXIMATELY 300 TO 400 FEET BEFORE CONTACT WITH RUNWAY SHOULDER. AT THE DEPARTURE POINT OF THE RUNWAY, THERE WAS INDICATION THAT THE AIRCRAFT'S TAIL WAS POSITIONED TO THE EAST AND THE NOSE FACING A WESTERLY DIRECTION. THE MAIN LANDING GEAR HAD SHEARED AT THE MID-POINT LENGTH OF THE STRUTS. EXAMINATION OF RUNWAY 02 AT THE POINT OF AIRCRAFT TOUCHDOWN INDICATED A 6 FOOT LENGTH TIRE THREAD SKID (NOSE WHEEL) APPROXIMATELY 9 FEET TO THE LEFT OF THE CENTERLINE. THIS TIRE TREAD SKID EXTENDED BEYOND THIS INITIAL POINT OF CONTACT BY EVIDENCE OF A FAINT TIRE SCUFF EXTENDING IN AN ARC, TO A LENGTH OF APPROXIMATELY 300 TO 400 FEET BEFORE EXITING THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY ONTO THE GRASS. AT APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET, ANOTHER TIRE TREAD SCUFF (LEFT MAIN TIRE) WAS LOCATED ADJACENT TO THIS ORIGINAL NOSE TIRE TREAD SCUFF. BOTH OF THESE TIRE SCUFFS RAN PARALLEL TO EACH OTHER ON PAVEMENT UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT REACHED THE RIGHT-HAND EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED RUNWAY 02 AT THE MID-POINT SECTION, AS MADE EVIDENT BY NOSE AND MAIN TIRE TREAD MARKS DISRUPTING GRAVEL, GRASS, AND A BROKEN RUNWAY IDENTIFICATION LAMP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
