## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE SUBJECT AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN TWO FEET SHORT OF THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD RESULTING IN THE MAIN LANDING GEAR LOWER STRUTS IMPACTING THE PAVEMENT EDGE. THE LEFT LOWER STRUT SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND THE RIGHT BENT OVER AND CONTINUED SUPPORTING THE AIRCRAFT, WHICH ROLLED TO A STOP ON THE RUNWAY WITH THE NOSE GEAR REMAINING INTACT. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. NO PROPERTY WAS DAMAGED. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL STRUCTURAL DAMAGE FROM FUSELAGE TWISTING AND GROUND CONTACT WITH MOST OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC07CA141](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC07CA141), Jun 18, 2007: Piper PA31-310 (N97044), Marietta, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to obtain the proper touchdown point, which resulted in an undershoot.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
