## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JUNE 20, 2007, AT 0930AM CESSNA 185 OPERATED BY THE MONTANA STATE DNRC AS A PUBLIC USE AIRCRAFT, PERFORMED AN EMERGENCY APPROACH AS A TRAINING MANEUVER TO AN UNCONTROLLED GRASS STRIP WITH THE INTENT OF PERFORMING A GO-AROUND. WHEN THE PILOT INITIATED THE GO-AROUND MANEUVER THERE WAS LITTLE RESPONSE TO THE THROTTLE CAUSING THE PILOT TO PERFORM A LANDING INTO AN ALFALFA FIELD. THE DENSE ALFALFA CAUSED THE RIGHT GEAR TO COLLAPSE CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING AND PROPELLER. THE SITE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES SOUTH EAST OF KALISPELL CITY AIRPORT FROM WHICH THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED. THE WEATHER AT THE TIME WAS VFR AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT OPERATING ON A FLIGHT PLAN. SUBSEQUENT OPERATIONS OF THE AIRCRAFT USING THE FUEL ABOARD THE AIRCRAFT DETERMINED NO CONDITIONS WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN THE LACK OF RESPONSE TO THE THROTTLE.
