## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) RECEIVED A WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM THE AIRMAN WITH THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL WITH THE TAIL IN THE AIR, I BELIEVE WE GOT A ROUGH LEFT REAR QUARTERING GUST, WHICH PUSHED US OFF THE RUNWAY. I TRIED TO RECOVER BUT THE GUST WAS TOO STRONG. AS WE WENT OFF THE RUNWAY, THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR HIT A MOUND OF TUNDRA CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC07CA053](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC07CA053), Jun 24, 2007: Grumman G21A (N7811), Dutch Harbor, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for wind conditions during the takeoff roll, which resulted in a loss of directional control and a nose over.
