## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT DEPARTED MERRILL FIELD FOR THE DESKA RIVER. AFTER CROSSING COOK INLET, HIS AIRCRAFT ENGINE STARTED TO RUN ROUGH. SO AFTER SWITCHING FUEL TANKS, CHECKING CARBURETOR HEAT, MAKING SURE HIS ENGINE PRIMER WAS LOCKED, CHECKING HIS MAGNETOS AND HIS MIXTURE, HE STILL ELECTED TO MAKE A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING IN WHAT APPEARED TO BE A CLEAR FIELD. TOUCHING DOWN HE REALIZED THAT HE WAS LANDING IN KNEE HIGH GRASS, AND AS THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED OUT IT WENT UP ON ITS NOSE AND STOPPED AND EVENTUALLY FLIPPED OVER VERY SLOWLY.
